Selling my 2001 golf tdi bout 8 months ago i took it in for an timing belt replacement. The mechanic screwed it all up. It jumped timing on the freeway, and it blew a valve. Needs a rebuilt engine, or new one. Mechanic started on repairing it, took engine apart and did absolutely nothing but waste my time. I have all the parts in the trunk. Can be a great car if it gets in the right hands. I used to get 40 mpg average. Found an engine for $500. Pick up this gem before it's gone!

This tdi runs great and gets amazing fuel economy. This has been an excellent commuter car that cruises along great on the highway. However, the check engine light is on for a glow plug issue and this might have to be resolved by a mechanic before it will pass emissions. Also, the oil temp light has been coming on after start up, but then goes away. It probably just needs an oil change to fix this.

I've been using this car to commute from Clearfield to North Salt Lake for the last 6 years and it has never let me down. Even with the high mileage there no doubt in my mind this car has at least 100,000 more miles in it.. I have always kept up on routine maintenance including new timing belt, water pump and thermostat last fall
